Snowstorms- a part of Atlantic Canada living 02/06/2011
![]() Our neighbourhood this morning... You know...snowstorms get a bad rap- but considering the fact that we that we live in Atlantic Canada they are part of our reality and I think we need to embrace them and enjoy them instead of complaining (unless you are a teacher or a student :)) about "another snowstorm". This morning we awoke to a blustery snowstorm and within a couple of hours the storm subsided and the beautiful white snow was glistening in the sun- it was an amazing sight! We both set out to clean the drive-way and front walk- and at the same time get to know our new neighbours- it's a social event in itself!! This afternoon we were able to get out and go snowshoeing and be the first people on our local trail-what a great feeling! It has taken me a while to come to accept this part of Atlantic Canadian winters but now I love snow and while I am not sad when spring rolls around- I do get a smile on my face when winter rolls around again and we have our first big storm!! xoxo Jane Add Comment My "Happiness Project"! 02/05/2011
I have been thinking about revamping my East Coast Kitsch website and to start blogging again for some time and while reading Gretchen Rubin’s “The Happiness Project” I made a commitment to myself that I would do just that to start off 2011. So in late December I hired a graphic designer to give me a hand with my website and I figured out what I wanted to write about in my blog. I thought that it would be a neat opportunity for me to share with everyone all of the great things I love about living in Atlantic Canada. I want to focus on featuring some of my favourite local products and places and some of the neat things I find and people I meet in my travels throughout New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland. The Happiness Project taught me that it was important to “be Jane” and do the things you want to do- not what others want you to do and celebrating the people and the places of Atlantic Canada is something that I am truly committed to doing. I have to say that I am NOT a writer- so instead of trying to create text that is grammatically correct (because who’s kidding who) I am going to write things as I see them and create a narrative about my favourite things in my own unique style! I will try to post as often as possible but am not going to commit to a schedule- join my facebook group- http://www.facebook.com/EastCoastKitsch- to get feeds as new items are posted! So here’s to happiness and celebrating life through my "Happiness Project”!! xoxo Jane | AuthorI enjoy creating handmade items from recycled and reclaimed products.
